The update is even clearer. Roughly 5,000 troops have already begun leaving German bases.
Europe Must Step Up
NATO allies have enjoyed American protection and bases for decades while contributing far too little.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz called the U.S. “humiliated” by Iran. Italy and Spain offered minimal support when it mattered.
This is the natural result of one-way alliances.
No More Free Riders

Sovereignty means ending the era where Europeans lecture Washington while depending on U.S. strength and treasure.
