Pakistan’s Supreme Court just released the last killers of a Christian couple burned alive
Jesus warned us that the world would hate His followers. In 2026, that warning is being fulfilled on every continent, and the evidence keeps growing.
On July 10, 2026, the Supreme Court of Pakistan released the last three men on death row for the murder of a Christian couple.
The court also rejected the appeal against the acquittal of 102 other suspects. After this ruling, not one single person remains in prison for this crime.
Not even one.
The crime was one of the most horrible in recent memory.
On November 4, 2014, a mob of more than 1,000 Muslims attacked Shahzad Masih and his pregnant wife, Shama Bibi, in the village of Kot Radha Kishan.
The couple had been falsely accused of desecrating pages of the Quran.
A local Islamic prayer leader used a mosque loudspeaker to call the crowd. The mob beat the couple and threw them alive into a burning brick kiln. They were burned alive. They left three small children behind.
Police registered cases against 660 suspects. Twelve years later, all of them walk free.
Pakistani Bishop Samson Shukardin said the verdict is part of a recurring pattern where crimes against religious minorities remain unpunished.
Pakistan is ranked 8th on the Open Doors 2026 World Watch List.
In that country, the life of a Christian has no value in the courts.
China spied on believers for six months before the night raid
On July 11, 2026, at 7:40 p.m., Chinese police raided Panshi Bible Church and several other house churches in Yueyang, Hunan Province, all at the same time.
Officers later admitted they had spent six months watching these believers. They called the raid their “final net-closing operation.”
Police detained pastors, church workers, ordinary believers, and even children and teenagers.
Those released described hours of interrogation, fingerprinting, blood samples for DNA, voice recordings, and personal surveillance files.
Police confiscated every Bible and Christian book from the home of Pastor Huang Lei. One husband was forced to sign a paper promising to keep his wife away from church.
Six leaders remain in custody, including Pastor Huang Lei and Elder Yang Jianjun.
ChinaAid founder Bob Fu said the raid is part of a systematic campaign by the Chinese Communist Party to destroy independent house churches under Xi Jinping.
Police even told believers that Christians who refuse the state-controlled church belong to a cult.
Imagine that, the atheist CCP deciding what true Christianity is!
Africa is the deadliest place on earth for Christians
The Open Doors 2026 report counts 388 million persecuted Christians worldwide.
Of the 4,849 believers killed for their faith in the last reporting year, 3,490 died in Nigeria. That is about 72 percent of the world total in just one country. Numbers like these are the reason why the heart of Senator Ted Cruz is with the Christians of Nigeria.
The attacks never stop. On July 18, 2026, Islamic terrorists, suspected to be Boko Haram or ISWAP, abducted the wife of a pastor and their three children in Nigeria.
In another country, also in Africa, the Central African Republic, gunmen shot 36-year-old Catholic priest Crepin Martial Monga in the head on June 29 as he returned home.
One day earlier, he had baptized 175 new believers, including 160 displaced Christians his parish was sheltering.
He baptized them by the river, and the next evening he was murdered.
The West is not immune
Do not think persecution only happens in Asia and Africa.
The Western world is also turning against Christians, little by little.
In the United Kingdom, police arrested 66-year-old Pastor Steve Maile in April 2026 while he was preaching in the street about the history of Islam.
He was handcuffed for 90 minutes and now faces charges of religious hatred.
In Sweden, the government took the daughters of the Samson family and labeled the parents “religious extremists” for attending church.
The father now fears his girls could be given in forced adoption.
In Canada, legislators have proposed laws that directly threaten Christian speech and religious education, something we covered before here at Chomcho.
And in the United States, the Biden administration allowed the FBI to produce a memo that treated traditionalist Catholics as potential domestic extremists.
Yes, in America, praying Christians were treated as a threat to national security.
We win small legal victories from time to time. For instance, Pastor Dia Moodley in Bristol, England, had his criminal investigation dropped in May.
But the long-term direction in the West is clear. Little by little, things are getting worse, not better.
Trump defends persecuted Christians
Thank God, there are some victories to report.
President Donald Trump designated Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern for its persecution of Christians.
He threatened to cut all American aid and ordered the Pentagon to prepare options for military action against the Islamic terrorists. President Trump wrote that “Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria.”
Mark Walker is President Trump’s nominee for international religious freedom. Walker estimated that even conservative numbers show 4,000 to 8,000 Christians killed in Nigeria every year.
For the first time in years, the White House treats the massacre of Christians as a real crisis and not as a minor detail.
Senator Ted Cruz speaks for the martyrs
Every story has a champion, and this one has at least two. Texas Senator Ted Cruz has fought this battle for years.
Cruz introduced the Nigeria Religious Freedom Accountability Act, a law that would sanction Nigerian officials who enforce Sharia and blasphemy laws.
Senator Cruz estimates that more than 50,000 Christians have been massacred in Nigeria since 2009, and more than 20,000 churches and Christian schools have been destroyed.
Just this week, Cruz said that “Nigerian officials have created an environment that facilitates mass violence against Christians.”
He accused the Nigerian government of answering American pressure with a public relations campaign instead of protecting believers.
Cruz deserves the support of every Christian in America. Pray for his bill to become law.
Jesus told us this would happen
None of this should surprise a Bible-believing Christian.
Jesus said in Matthew 5:10-12 that those who are persecuted for righteousness are blessed, because the kingdom of heaven belongs to them.
He told us to rejoice, because our reward in heaven is great, and because the prophets before us were persecuted in the same way.
In Luke 21:12-17, Jesus prophesied that His followers would be arrested, put in prison, and brought before kings and governors because of His name.
He said we would be hated by all nations because of Him.
Read those verses again and then look at the headlines. Prisons in China. Courts in Pakistan. Police in Britain and Sweden.
The prophecy of our Lord is being fulfilled before our eyes.
If we judge these events from a Biblical worldview, we may realize that we are living very close to the end times.
The persecution of the Church is not a defeat. It is a sign. God is always in control.
The Church has always grown under persecution, starting in the Roman empire, and today it is also growing in China, in Nigeria, and in Iran.
Christian persecution in 2026 is a painful reality, but it is also proof that the Word of God is true and that Christ is coming back!
