Israel Settles Accounts with October 7 Architect
On Friday May 15, 2026, an IDF precision airstrike in Gaza City killed Izz al-Din al-Haddad — the last surviving October 7 architect and head of Hamas’s Qassam Brigades military wing.
The 2023 massacre he planned killed 1,200 Israelis and took over 250 hostage.
IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir confirmed the strike: “The IDF will continue to pursue our enemies, strike, and settle accounts with everyone who took part in the October 7 massacre.”

He managed Hamas’s entire hostage captivity system.
Israel placed a $750,000 bounty on his head. He survived multiple assassination attempts. Justice came anyway.
Former hostage Emily Damari, who was held in Hamas tunnels under his command, responded simply: “He plotted and planned the 7th and killed my friends and so many other dear people.”
Breitbart News noted he was central to producing detailed plans on how to subdue and capture Israeli soldiers during the 2023 assault. The Wall Street Journal confirmed Israel had been hunting him for years.

Al-Haddad joined Hamas in the 1980s — a founding generation of terror.
He rose through the Qassam Brigades, directed the October 7, 2023 massacre from inside the Gaza City Brigade command, and took over as Hamas’s top military commander after Mohammed Sinwar was killed in May 2025.
